Day 13: Purpose in the Pain

Theme

Pain can feel meaningless in the moment, but God can use it to shape character, deepen faith, and equip us to comfort others. MS pain, while unwanted, can still be redeemed for a greater purpose.

Scripture

“We also glory in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope.” — Romans 5:3-4 (NIV)

Devotional

It’s hard to imagine that pain could have a purpose. But in God’s economy, nothing is wasted. The physical and emotional struggles of MS can refine us, draw us closer to Christ, and equip us to minister to others in ways we never could before.Paul’s words remind us that suffering is not the end of the story — it’s part of a process that leads to hope. Even when you don’t see how God is using your pain, trust that He is shaping you into someone who reflects His strength and grace. Music Link:

Purpose in the Pain

Lyrics

(Verse 1)In the midnight, when the tears still fallIn the silence, when I hear no callYou are working in the unseenTurning ashes into something clean(Chorus)There’s a purpose in the pain, there’s a reason in the rainYou are writing every chapter with a grace that will sustainThough I may not see it yet, I will trust and not forgetYou are faithful through the heartache, there’s a purpose in the pain(Verse 2)You’ve walked roads I can’t explainYou’ve known sorrow, You’ve known shameBut the cross shows me the wayThat the darkest night will break to day(Bridge)You waste nothing, You restoreEvery loss and every soreYou will use it all againFor Your glory in the end(Chorus)There’s a purpose in the pain, there’s a reason in the rainYou are writing every chapter with a grace that will sustainThough I may not see it yet, I will trust and not forgetYou are faithful through the heartache, there’s a purpose in the pain

Prayer

Lord, help me to trust that You can bring beauty out of my suffering. Use my story to bring hope and comfort to others. Amen.
