Day 3: When People Disappoint

Scripture

“Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you!” — Isaiah 49:15

Reflection

Church hurt has a way of cutting deeper than almost any other wound. When the place you thought was safe becomes the place where the pain started, it shakes your faith at the roots. You may feel forgotten, overlooked, or even betrayed. Those feelings are real — and God does not dismiss them. In Isaiah 49:15, He gives us a powerful image: even if the deepest human bonds fail, His love never will.

God sees every tear, every disappointment, and every unkind word spoken in His name. He holds them, not to condemn you, but to remind you that His heart toward you never changes. People will let you down. Even the strongest relationships can fracture under the weight of sin and human weakness. But God’s faithfulness is unshakable.

When others forget you, God remembers. When others walk away, He draws closer. The truth is that no church hurt, no betrayal, no wound is strong enough to erase the seal of His love over your life. Let His compassion, steady and sure, become the anchor that keeps you standing when the ground feels unstable.

Song

Lyrics:(Verse 1)

I trusted their promise, thought it would stay

But silence has spoken, they’ve walked away

Yet in the stillness, Your whisper is clear

“I will not forget you, I’m always here”

(Chorus)

I’m never forgotten, I’m never alone

Your love is the anchor, steady and strong

When people forsake me, I still belong

I’m never forgotten, in You I’m home

(Verse 2)

The world may forget me, their love fade away

But Yours is a mercy that cannot decay

You’ve carved my name in the palm of Your hand

Forever You hold me, forever I stand

(Bridge)

Every tear I’ve cried, You’ve counted it all

Your faithfulness lifts me when I fall

You promise remains through the night and the dawn

Never forgotten, I’ll keep holding on

Prayer

Lord, when people disappoint me, heal the wounds that linger in my heart. Teach me to trust that Your love never fails, even when human love does. Restore my hope, strengthen my spirit, and remind me daily that I am never forgotten in Your hands. Amen.
