“She gave this name to the LORD who spoke to her: ‘You are the God who sees me,’ for she said, ‘I have now seen the One who sees me.’” — Genesis 16:13 (NIV)
When you’ve been hurt by people in the church, it can feel like no one notices the wounds. But God does. Hagar, rejected and mistreated, encountered God in the wilderness and gave Him the name *El Roi*—the God who sees me.
God sees the injustice, the betrayal, and the loneliness. He also sees the faithfulness of your heart as you continue to seek Him in the aftermath of pain. Even when others dismiss your experience, God validates it. He knows what happened, He knows how it felt, and He knows what you need to heal.
The truth that God sees you is more than comfort—it is a promise. It means you are not invisible, forgotten, or discarded. You are loved, known, and chosen. Let His gaze of compassion
heal your hidden wounds and remind you that you are always in His care.
Song: The God Who Sees Me
Music:
(Verse 1)I walked the desert, tears burned my face,
Carrying sorrow I could not erase.
But then I heard You whisper my name,
You saw my heart and lifted my shame.
(Chorus)
You are the God who sees me,
In the silence, in the pain.
You are the God who heals me,
You restore my hope again.
(Verse 2)
The world may judge, the crowd may turn,
But in Your mercy, I finally learn.
I’m not forsaken, I’m not alone,
In every season, You call me Your own.
(Bridge)
Jesus, You never look away,Through the darkest night, through the longest day.
Every tear I’ve cried,
You’ve held so near,Your gaze of love drives out all fear.
Lord, even when my path is uncertain, I choose to trust You. Protect me from bitterness when others falter, and give me the courage to keep pressing on. Fill me with endurance that comes not from myself but from Your Spirit, so I can finish strong in the race You have set before me. Amen.
